Established in the year 1961, IIT Delhi is one amongthe seven IITs offering teachings and instructions in engineering andapplied sciences at a level that is comparable to the very best ones inthe world. Initially, the institute was known as College ofEngineering. Later, it was declared as an Institution of NationalImportance under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1963, and then itwas renamed as Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
