The Centre for Atmospheric Sciences has a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified meteorologists, oceanographers, physicists, applied mathematicians and engineers working in the areas of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences.
It offers several courses to B.Tech students in addition to running vibrant Ph.D. and M.Tech. programmes. The Centre has 13 faculty members and 50 research scientists/ assistants/ scholars working on various projects. The major areas of research in the Centre include monsoon studies, general circulation and climate modelling; limited area models, tropical cyclones and storm surge models; ocean modelling, coupled ocean-atmospheric modelling, meso-scale modelling, environmental studies, and air-pollution studies.
