Jaipur: Congress leaders have at last converged to settle their discrepancy over the site to be chosen for setting up an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Rajasthan."Jodhpur is the deemed location for the IIT while Udaipur will get the IIM", said an official from the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry.
According to sources, a five-member HRD ministry team, headed by Ashok Thakur, the Additional Secretary in HRD Ministry, is expected to arrive in Rajasthan today to authenticate the anticipated IIT-Rajasthan and IIM sites."Although, the Ministry has already decided on the locations, the committee's visit is only a regulation", the sources added.A brawl among the Congress leaders as well as with the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) over the location has been an impediment for classifying a site for IIT-Rajasthan, which has been operational from IIT-Kanpur.
Rajasthan was the only state out of the seven proposed new IIT states where the issue was still pending to be resolved.Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh and Former CM Vasundhara Raje had already announced the upcoming of the IIT in the state.
