IIT JAM 2011 is an entrance examination required for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programmes at IITs. IITS are known for offering high quality education in engineering and science, and research comparable to the best in the world. Students who wish to get admission in M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes offered at IIT appear for IIT JAM entrance.
IIT JAM Eligibility
For admission to IITs, the candidates who qualify in JAM shall fulfill minimum IIT JAM eligibility criteria of at least 55% aggregate marks for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.

IIT JAM Entrance Exam
IIT JAM entrance exam has following test papers:
1. Mathematics 2. Mathematical Statistics 3. Physics 4. Geophysics 5. Geology 6. Chemistry 7. Biotechnology 8. Computer Applications
Each test paper in IIT JAM Entrance is of 3 hours duration. A candidate can opt to appear in either one or two test papers, subject to the limitations imposed by the Test schedule.
Biotechnology and Computer Applications test papers are objective type. All other six test papers will be objective-cum-subjective type. IIT JAM paper has negative marking for wrong answers to the objective type questions in all the test papers. For each test paper in exam, an All India merit list is prepared.
IIT JAM Preparation
Students should prepare hard for the exam in order to score well. All the eight test papers have specific IIT JAM syllabus. Students should practice using IIT JAM question paper, IIT JAM previous papers. IIT JAM results will be available on the official website. In order to get the result, students will need the registration number.
